The Ram TRX is an off-road performance pickup; the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is a two-seat performance sports car. They are not competing versions of the same kind of vehicle. Choosing between them starts with your intended use, not a blanket claim that one wins every category.
Correction, October 10, 2026: An earlier version of this article incorrectly used 702 horsepower for the 2027 TRX and claimed a horsepower advantage over the ZR1. Ram currently publishes 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft for the 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT. Chevrolet publishes 1,064 horsepower for the 2027 Corvette ZR1. The earlier conclusion was incorrect.
Read the figures in their proper context
The figures above come directly from Ram's TRX information and Chevrolet's Corvette ZR1 information. Ram identifies preproduction imagery and cautions that production vehicles and features may vary. These are manufacturer-published ratings, not measurements performed by our dealership.
Choose the job before the vehicle
A buyer who needs a pickup bed and a truck configured for off-road use has a different shopping requirement from a buyer seeking a dedicated road-and-track sports car. Passenger access, parking dimensions, cargo, tires, ground clearance and operating costs belong on that first checklist. More horsepower does not establish a higher payload rating, better towing suitability or better safety.
Trailer use requires the exact truck's labels, owner's manual, hitch limits and loaded weights. Track use and off-road operation likewise require the vehicle-specific instructions, appropriate conditions and equipment. Neither vehicle should be described as comfortable on every terrain or as offering unmatched control.
Keep the model years separate
A used TRX, a Ram 1500 RHO, a DC650-converted Ram and the announced 2027 TRX are different products. Do not transfer the new model's output, equipment or coverage to an older truck. Obtain the VIN, model year and any conversion records for the specific vehicle under consideration.
Does the 2027 TRX have more horsepower than the ZR1?
No. The manufacturer figures cited above list the ZR1 higher. That fact does not make the ZR1 a substitute for a pickup's cargo bed or off-road mission.
