Ram 1500 Black Widow vs. Ram 2500 Black Widow: HEMI or Cummins?

Published on Oct 12, 2026 by Seth Wadley Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Pauls Valley

A Ram 1500 Black Widow and a Ram 2500 Black Widow can share a distinctive appearance while being very different vehicles to own. Compare the engine, base truck, actual suspension package and daily workload before choosing the conversion name.

Our October 12, 2026 catalog review provides two examples: 2026 Ram 1500 Black Widow D211350 and 2025 Ram 2500 Black Widow D570113. The 1500 is listed with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with eTorque; the 2500 is listed with a 6.7-liter Cummins diesel. Both records describe crew-cab 4WD trucks with eight-speed automatics. Confirm the current equipment, location and availability before travel.

Different lift and wheel packages

D211350 is described with a six-inch lift, 22-inch wheels and 35-inch all-terrain tires, plus power running boards, flares, hood treatment and a custom interior. D570113 lists a four-inch lift, 20-inch wheels and 35-inch all-terrain tires, along with its own steps, flares and cabin changes.

Those equipment differences do not tell you the exact completed height. The trucks start from different platforms, so a six-inch label does not prove one has two more inches of roof clearance than the other. Measure the vehicles that interest you against your garage, parking and entry requirements.

HEMI versus Cummins: start with the driving routine

The 1500 is worth considering when your purchase centers on the half-ton cab, a gasoline V8 and a finished custom appearance. Its Black Widow badge does not establish that it has a supercharger; this listing does not describe the DC650 power package.

The 2500 deserves a closer look when the heavy-duty platform and diesel powertrain fit your actual hauling or towing requirement. Include fuel, service needs, tire replacement and the way you use the vehicle between work trips. Do not pay for the larger platform simply because it sounds more capable, or assume the 1500 is suitable for a trailer without checking its ratings.

The base trim still matters

The descriptions identify Big Horn starting configurations. D211350 lists Level 2 equipment, a panoramic sunroof and a 33-gallon tank. D570113 lists Big Horn Level 1 Plus equipment, a 12-inch Uconnect navigation display, Alpine audio, heated front seats and steering wheel, and fifth-wheel/gooseneck preparation.

These are listing-specific details. Inspect the actual seats, screen, camera views and switches. A conversion's leather treatment does not automatically add every feature of a higher factory trim. A hitch-preparation package also does not mean every hitch or trailer connection is included.

Where these trucks make a stronger case than piecemeal modifications

A completed package lets you inspect the stance, wheel fit, step operation and finish together. Ask for the manufacturer build sheet and installation documentation, then compare the full vehicle quote with the stock truck and modifications you would otherwise choose. Do not value accessories you would not buy merely because they are included.

Black Widow's Ram product information is a starting point for package questions. The exact VIN and build records determine what is installed. The Fox Factory manuals and warranty resources can help identify the relevant documents.

Does a Black Widow lift increase payload or towing capacity?

Not automatically. Use the finished truck's labels and manufacturer/upfitter instructions; added equipment also has weight.

Which Black Widow should I buy?

Start with the platform and engine your workload needs. Then decide whether the specific conversion equipment justifies its price and ownership requirements.
